Byrne creates worlds attempting to find a look-through. An immigrant’s view.
Reworking digital and painted layers provides a look at and underneath the physical environment. In his landscapes, Byrne visualizes abstract concepts, such as capital, islands, or when they intersect, financial islands.
Writing stories, and poems is one of the ways he dissects and reimagines these complex topics and inaccessible worlds. In his most recent work, Byrne breaks down the world of the finance district of the Netherlands into characters and allegories He attempts to add layers of association to allow access to these complicated topics.
These archetypes are not restricted to his work on canvas, for example, he has reworked other people's discarded work, cut’s and using ready-mades.
Henry Byrne lives in the Netherlands.
